To engage in embezzlement or bribery. 例: 赃秽 (graft and bribery), 赃罪 (crime of embezzlement and bribery), 赃贿 (embezzlement and bribery). 引: 1. 《列子·天瑞》: To excuse oneself with stolen goods and lose one’s inherited wealth. 2. 《广韵》: To accept bribes is called 赃. 3. 《后汉书·质帝纪》: The governor of Nanyang, Han Zhao, was put to death in prison for embezzlement. 4. 《魏书·世祖纪》: In every place, the looting amounted to tens of millions, and those responsible were executed. 造字法:形声。左形,右声 (The character is formed phonetically, with the left part indicating its meaning and the right part indicating its sound).
