1. Anciently the same as "最" (zuì).
Ancient usage; same as "zuì", meaning "most" or "extreme".
2. Adverb 极 (jí). Interchangeable with "最" (zuì).
An adverb meaning "extreme"; can be used interchangeably with "zuì".
According to "Shuōwén Jiězì" (The Study of Characters, 部冖) by Duan Yucai in the Qing dynasty, it is noted that "冣" and "最" have distinct meanings and pronunciations, but by the Southern and Northern Dynasties, the two were no longer distinguished.
3. Verb 聚积 (jùjī). Same as "聚" (jù).
A verb meaning to accumulate; synonymous with "jù".
In "Shǐjì" (Records of the Grand Historian, Volume 3, Annals of Yin), it states: "大冣乐戏于沙丘,以酒为池,县肉为林。" Meaning "The grand gathering enjoyed revelries at the sand dunes, using wine as a pond and hanging meat as a forest." Pei Yin’s commentary cites Xu Guang, stating that "冣" can also be read as "聚".
4. Verb 聚积 (jùjī). Same as "聚" (jù).
A verb meaning to accumulate; synonymous with "jù".
As mentioned in "Shǐjì" (Records of the Grand Historian, Volume 3, Annals of Yin), it states: "大冣乐戏于沙丘,以酒为池,县肉为林。" The meaning is as above. Pei Yin’s commentary repeats that "冣" can also be read as "聚".
