銮 (luán)
1. A type of bell.

2. A term for the imperial carriage in ancient times, which was signified by the presence of the bell.
古代帝王的车驾上有銮铃,故亦作帝王车驾的代称。
- Example: 銮仪 (the ceremonial carriage of the emperor); 銮驾 (the emperor's carriage); 銮舆 (another term for the imperial carriage); 随銮 (to follow the imperial carriage); 迎銮 (to welcome the imperial carriage).
3. The ceremonial bell used on the emperor's carriage, typically installed above the yoke or balance of the carriage. The upper part is generally a flat-round bell with pellets inside, and it has radiating holes on the top. The lower part consists of a rectangular seat, often with nail holes on both sides. This custom began in the Western Zhou dynasty.
