1. [Luan River] A river name, formerly known as “Rūshǔi” (濡水). Located in the northeastern part of Hebei Province. It originates in Guyuan County, flows north into Inner Mongolia, where it is called “Shǎndiàn Hé” (闪电河), then turns southeast into Hebei Province, initially referred to as “Luan River” (滦河), passing through Luanping, Chengde, Qianxi, and Luan County before entering the Bohai Sea.
2. [Luan prefecture] Refers to Luan Prefecture established by the Khitan during the Five Dynasties, named after the Luan River. Its administrative center was at Yifeng (present-day Luan County), covering areas equivalent to the modern Luan County and Laoting County in Hebei Province.
3. [Luan county] A county in the eastern part of Hebei Province, through which the Jing-Shen Railway and Luan River flow. Luan Prefecture was established by the Khitan with its capital at Yifeng, and, in 1913, it was renamed Yifeng County.
