1. 〔~寄生〕A small evergreen shrub characterized by soft, jointed stems, featuring separate male and female plants. It parasitizes branches of trees such as oak, poplar, willow, and elm. Its stems and leaves are used in traditional Chinese medicine.

3. Refers to the daimyo oak (Japanese: 柞栎). A type of deciduous tree in the oak family, characterized by large, alternately arranged, broad oval leaves with coarsely serrated edges.
