名
1. 同本义 (English: thistle). A perennial upright herb. There are two types: large thistle and small thistle. The stems and leaves have thorns and white soft hairs, blooming purple-red flowers in early summer. The whole plant is used for medicinal purposes. Tender stems and leaves are edible or used as fodder.
2. 古州名 (English: Ji prefecture). Established in the 18th year of the Kaiyuan era of the Tang dynasty. The administrative center was in Yuyang (modern-day Jixian County, Tianjin).
3. 古县名 (English: Ji county).
4. 蓟县 (English: Jixian). Established during the Qin dynasty. The administrative center was located in the southwest of modern Beijing.
5. 县名 (English: district name). Located in the northern part of Tianjin, adjacent to Beijing and Hebei Province. Originally established as Wuzhong County during the Qin dynasty; renamed Yuyang during the Sui dynasty; incorporated into Jizhou during the Ming dynasty; renamed Jixian in 1913.
